This Spicy Apple Crumble takes a classic dessert and gives it a cheeky little upgrade with a spoonful of Marion’s Kitchen Crispy Chilli Oil. The apples cook down into soft, tangy, lightly spiced chunks, while the crumble topping turns golden, buttery, and beautifully crunchy. And that warm peanut butter–chilli drizzle? It’s creamy, sweet, gently spicy, and absolutely addictive.
It’s the perfect dessert for cosy nights, weekend entertaining, or when you want something comforting but a little unexpected. Simple ingredients, big flavour, and zero fuss.
6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
¼ cup caster sugar
1 lemon, with zest
1 tbsp Marion’s Kitchen Crispy Chilli oil
Crumble
180g all-purpose flour
120g salted butter (room temperature), chopped
60g demerara sugar
Salt, to taste
Peanut butter-Chilli Sauce
½ cup peanut butter
2 tbsp Marion’s Kitchen Crispy Chilli oil
2 tbsp Honey
1-2 tbsp water
1 cup heavy cream
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Place the chopped apples into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add 100g of the sugar and a few fine gratings of lemon zest add the Marion’s Kitchen Crispy chilli oil. Cover and cook for 5 minutes, or until the apples have softened slightly. Remove from the heat and add a squeeze of lemon juice. Then set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and flour. Rub the mixture together with your fingertips until it forms coarse breadcrumbs. Add the remaining 50g sugar, a pinch of salt. Mix gently to create a textured crumble topping.
- Transfer the cooked apples to a 25cm x 30cm baking dish . Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and the apple mixture is bubbling around the edges.
- For the sauce, place the peanut butter, honey, and Marion’s Kitchen Crispy Chilli Oil, water and cream together. Stir until the sauce reaches your desired drizzle consistency.
- To serve, spoon the warm apple crumble into bowls , add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, and finish with a generous drizzle of the peanut butter–chilli sauce and sprinkle of salt.
