Brown rice is a healthier alternative to white rice, although it does take slightly longer to cook. It’s higher in fibre, magnesium, and other nutrients, and has a deliciously nutty taste.
1 cup brown rice
2½ cups water
- Place the rice and the water into a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to the boil and cook for about 25 minutes.
- Tip the rice out into a sieve to strain out all excess water. Place the rice back into the warm pot. Cover and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
- If using for fried rice, chill the rice in the fridge before using.
